Today, at 12:30 hours, the Finance Ministry is to open thesealed envelopes containing the technical and financial bids sentby law firms interested in the three-year legal assistance contractfor the programme of medium-term note issues on internationalmarkets worth as much as 7bn euros.
Such a contract sealed with a European state is appealing forlaw firms primarily from "image" reasons.
The borrowing programme is likely to be launched in the second halfof October, being the first one of this type used by Romania tofund its budgetary gap.
The selection organised by the Finance Ministry for legalassistance was opened to domestic and foreign specialised firms,which could also file bids as part of a consortium. The deadlinefor entering the race expires today at 12:00 and the participantscan subsequently attend bid opening.
The Finance Ministry started lawyer selection almost one monthafter having chosen Erste Group and Societe Generale banks tohandle the foreign borrowing programme.
