The first Romanian store of the Swedish furniture retailer Ikea, located in the retail area of the Baneasa real estate project, will be opened on March 21, the company announced on Tuesday. Prior to the opening of the store, Ikea will distribute catalogues in Bucharest and the surrounding area of the Capital, which will feature products to be available in the future shopping centre, according to a release from the company. The store, located in the Northern part of Bucharest, entails investment worth 25 million euros, a sum that covers both the construction and the fitting of the centre, which has a total surface area of 26,000 square metres. Ikea bets on functional, easy-to-assemble products, at low prices, with the range of products available in the Baneasa store reaching a total of some 7,000 articles of furniture and interior decoration products. Ikea had previously announced it expected approximately 2.5 million visitors in the store's first year in business, one million of which will actually buy products.
