Gerocossen business up 10%

26.10.2006, 19:19 18

Cosmetics manufacturer Gerocossen posted a turnover worth 8.7 million RON (2.5 million euros) in the first nine months of the year, a 10% increase against the same period in 2005, said the company's marketing manager, Andreea Sas. "The upward trend will continue, sustained by the increase in the sales of cosmetic products in the autumn-winter season, as well as by the Gerocossen strategy to expand its distribution network, increasing investment in marketing and expanding our product portfolio," said Sas. The company's marketing manager estimates a higher rate of growth for the following period, of up to 20-25% until the end of the year. Gerocossen anticipates turnover worth over 11 million RON (3.1 million euros) this year, a 26% increase against last year. The company was formed in 1990 and its portfolio includes some 100 hair, skin care, sun care and body care products. Other domestic manufacturers of cosmetic and personal care products are Cluj-based Farmec, Bucharest-based Elmiplant, Lotus, Papillon, Dr. Soleil and Genmar. The bulk of the market is, however, divided among multinationals like Oriflame, Avon, L'Or?al, Coty, Privilege and Alix Avien.
