The Gliga group, based in Reghin, a manufacturer and retailer of musical instruments and items of furniture, estimates turnover worth around 8.5 million euros this year, a 10% increase against 2006. Sales of musical instruments account for some 2 million euros of the company's turnover, with the rest being generated by the manufacturing of furniture.
"The positive results registered in this year's turnover were triggered by the investment programmes which started in 2006, intended to increase the company's productivity, as well as the number of clients. Although we operate in several fields, we have been able to maintain an upward sales trend in the sector of musical instruments, with the main competition continuing to come from Asian manufacturers," Vasile Gliga, general manager of the Gliga group, told Ziarul Financiar. Exports account for 75% of the total turnover of Gliga Companies.
For this year, the Gliga group has budgeted investments worth around 0.5 million euros in acquiring a new parquet line with a view to increasing the company's productivity, an investment plan which began in 2006.
Gliga is involved in the logging and sales of wood, in the production of stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello, double bass), in the manufacture of furniture, as well as in farming activities.
"We do not own any stores in the country at this time, with our products being sold through our sales management to music schools and to large philharmonic institutions in Romania," says Vasile Gliga. Half of Gliga group's export partners are from the United States, while the rest hail from Germany, Austria, Italy and Japan.
"The market we are operating on is witnessing a decline, according to our estimates, and it will continue to maintain this trend throughout 2007, because of the large amount of poor quality goods being manufactured by Asian producers," believes Vasile Gliga.
