The recruitment of a Romanian manager can cost up to 25,000 euros, while in the case of expat managers, costs can be four times as high, depending on the salaries involved. "For a general manager or chairman of a bank recruited from abroad, with a salary of 500,000 euros a year, the fee charged by the recruitment company can reach 100,000 euros, and sometimes even more," says Sotiris Karagiozidis (photo), managing partner of Human Capital Solutions (HCS), a company that specialises in training and recruitment, which forecasts turnover worth 1.8 million euros this year. George Butunoiu, owner of the HR consulting firm bearing his name, shares the same opinion. "There are cases where recruitment can cost as much as 200,000 euros, but these are very rare," explains Butunoiu, whose firm recruits managers for Romanian companies in Austria, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. If the search extends beyond these countries, the costs are higher. Usually, the recruitment costs for foreign managers do not exceed 50,000 euros on average. "Sometimes, meeting with 20 managers is enough, other times we see over 100 people, and will not come across what we are looking for. This, in turn, means higher costs," says Butunoiu. Usually, the recruitment company charges around 30-35% of the annual salary package of the recruited manager. In addition to the salary, bonuses and benefits, the employer also pays the moving costs for the family of the recruited manager.
