Heineken gains ground on a declining market

Heineken Romania, producer of Golden Brau, Ciuc and Bucegibrands, announced a 7% turnover increase in 2010, to a grossturnover of 1.2 billion lei (267 million euros), while volumes soldwent up 6% against 2009.

"In 2010 Heineken Romania posted a 7% turnover increase against2009, despite the downward trend of the Romanian beer market," saidJan Derck van Karnebeek, managing director of Heineken Romania.

On the other hand, the company's net turnover amounted to 934million lei (222 million euros), with the difference between thegross sales and the net sales being accounted for by the exciseduty.

The rise recorded by the producer was driven by Ciuc Premium andBucegi brands, with the company to export other internationalbrands in the group's portfolio, as well, as of April: Amstel,Birra Moretti, Kusovice, Foster's, Murphy's, Strongbow, Sol andDesperados.
