Romgaz Medias, a company that covers about 30% of the nation's gas consumption, posted 285 million RON (77.6 million euro) net profit in the first half, an increase of 41% on the same time last year. "The increase in net profit by 41% compared with the first half of last year is due to the increase in turnover, to the savings on expenses and to the reduction of the share of non-deductible expenses," company officials say. The company posted 1.75 billion RON (478 million euros) in turnover in the first half, an increase of 7.2% compared with the same time last year when Romgaz posted 1.63 billion RON (491 million euros). At the same time, the company posted 202.1 million RON (60.7 million euro) net profit in the first six months of 2007. "The increase in turnover compared with the first half of last year was because of the increase in the amount delivered from our own production, of the delivery price and the amount of gas extracted from our storage facilities," company officials explain.
