Over 25,000 Romanians went on holiday to Egypt last year, spending at least 15 million euros on travel packages, with the cost of a package starting from 600 euros per person, according to ZF calculations. Considering that a Romanian going on holiday to Egypt or to another exotic destination usually spends twice as much as the cost of the travel package, according to representatives of the National Association of Travel Agencies, Romanian tourists spent upwards of 30 million euros on travelling to Egypt. "The majority of tourists are attracted by destinations such as Sharm-el Sheikh, Hurghada and Luxor, Cairo and Alexandria, with the number of Romanian tourists coming in last year being almost the same as in 2007," said Gheorghe Cioaca, an official from the Romanian Embassy in Egypt.
