Industrial parks in Giurgiu and Corabia

05.05.2003, 00:00 11

The Development and Prognosis Ministry (MDP) has agreed to have two industrial parks established in Giurgiu and Corabia, which should take up nearly 25 hectares. The Industry and Technology Park in Giurgiu, located north of the city, will be built on a 13.4 ha piece of land, within the premises of the Dunareana company. The originators of the project estimate the park to provide jobs for about 4,000 people once it opens. The industrial park in Corabia will get 1 million euros in non-repayable Phare 2000 funds to be used for rehabilitating and upgrading its infrastructure. It will take up 10.46 ha of land. The companies to operate in the Corabia Park will mainly deal in production and sale of car parts and subassemblies, textiles and footwear. "The infrastructure in the Corabia Park needs 500 new jobs created only to put it in place. Once the park opens for business, another about 1,130 jobs will be created, as well. Our goal is to make the best of the human resources as in the Giurgiu park's case, considering the decline of the local industry," Leonard Cazan, Development and Prognosis minister said. ZF
