Interagro owner opens biscuit factory after investments in milk, wine, and processed fish

Ioan Niculae, owner of the Interagro group, starts production ofbiscuits and waffles in a Zimnicea plant after several months agohe entered the market of processed fish, wine and vegetables,segments of the food industry with at least one billion euros inestimated sales per year.


The group of the Teleorman businessman grew this year despitethe crisis and the consumption decline, with Niculae registering atleast five companies with production operations with the TradeRegistry in 2010. Whilst so far Niculae's business mainly focusedon production of grain and of chemical fertilisers, livestockrearing and tourism, the companies set up in 2010 close the circleof activities with fish processing, dairy, bakery products and wineproduction.
According to data from market research company MEMRB, the fastmoving consumer goods market is estimated to be worth 20 billioneuros, with sales down 7% in the first eight months of this yearagainst the similar period of 2009.
