Intercapital Invest triples gains

Brokerage firm Intercapital Invest, controlled by the Romanian-American Enterprise Fund, posted a net profit worth 1.6 million RON (around 480,000 euros) in 2007, over 2.6 times higher compared with the previous year, according to the brokerage company's preliminary results. At the same time, Intercapital's overall revenues increased by 78%, and reached 8.2 million RON (2.46 million euros). The company's management says around 65% of Intercapital's revenues last year came from commissions secured from share transactions. Intercapital brokered share transactions worth 773 million RON (232 million euros) in 2007, up 71% on 2006, higher than the average market increase. As a result, Intercapital's market share increased to 2.31% in 2007, from 2.21% a year before. The brokerage company climbed three positions in the ranking of Stock Exchange brokerage companies, to twelfth position. Intercapital ranked second amongst companies involved in bond trading on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, after the value of transactions intermediated by Intercapital stood at 123 million RON (almost 37 million euros) in 2007. On the derivatives segment, the brokerage company handled transactions worth 829 million RON, up 49% on the previous year.
