La Fantana brings former Pepsi manager to the helm of the company

La Fantana, the biggest watercooler bottler on the Romanianmarket, has appointed Mihai Matyas, former manager of the Pepsiproducer, as general manager of the Romanian subsidiary.

Matyas, 53, replaces Polish-born Jaroslaw Zuchowski, who ran thecompany in the first year since its takeover by investment fundInnova Capital. Matyas was general manager of bottler QuadrantAmroq-Beverages (QAB) between 1999 and 2004, and then investmentand development vice-president until 2007, when he left to work inthe consultancy business, shortly after the company was fully takenover by giant Pepsi Americas. He is among the top-ranking managerstrained at QAB who chose to leave the company after its integrationinto Pepsi Americas.

Over the last few years the former Pepsi manager carried outconsulting projects for plants in the drinks and foods industry,having the Pepsi bottler in Bulgaria among its clients.

La Fantana posted a 17 million-euro turnover last year on theRomanian market, down by around 15% against 2008, and a marketshare put by ZF at over 50% on the watercooler market segment.
