German airline operator Lufthansa will continue its expansion on the Romanian market this year, with a Cluj-Munich flight to be introduced this month, and will also examine new growth opportunities. The turnover estimated for 2008 amounts to 40 million euros. Last year, Lufthansa posted business worth over 37 million euros, up over 30% against the previous year. "The Cluj-Munich flight, which will be operated daily, will take us to a total of 87 flights per week. We are also considering other potential destinations," said Lavinia Petruescu, marketing, pricing & online manager of Lufthansa for Romania and Moldova. Alongside the new Cluj-Munich flight, as of March 31, Lufthansa will also introduce its fourth flight on the Bucharest-Munich flight, with the company already having checked Bucharest, Timisoara, Sibiu and Cluj off its list in Romania. Lufthansa transported over 500,000 passengers to and from Romania last year, compared with over 300,000 passengers a year earlier.
