Malacopol, AKTA: The Internet generated the biggest increases both on business and consumer segments

Internet services last year brought the biggest increases bothin terms of revenues and number of clients on the business, as wellas consumer segment, despite the challenging economic environment,says Dinu Malacopol, general manager of Digital Cable Systems(which operates under the AKTA brand) and Dial Telecom companies,with 30m-euro turnover in 2009. Dial Telecom exclusively works withlegal entities. Both firms are controlled by AIG US investmentfund.

"For Digital Cable Systems, the main increase came on thesegment of Internet access services (a 50% increase), fixedtelephony (a several times increase) and digital TV," Malacopolstated.

"Interim estimates show that for the business Dial unit theoverall increase revolves around 30%; for data services, forinstance, the increase tops 60% for business clients and 45% forthe unit targeting housing clients".

Overall, the two companies for 2010 forecast total turnoverworth almost 35m euros. Malacopol specified, though, it was tooearly to provide final data on last year's revenues.
