Marcora Constructii posts 16m-euro turnover

01.02.2006, 21:01 9

Marcora Constructii posted 16 million-euro turnover last year, an increase of some 15% on 2004."We opened many construction sites last year, but the increase in the diesel oil price and implicitly in the prices for construction materials caused us to incur very large expenses. That is why we will try to decrease the number of small construction sites for 2006 and focus only on large-scale projects", said Leonardo Rossi, chief executive of Marcora Constructii, the local branch of the Italian group Marcora Construzioni. Marcora Constructions entered the Romanian market in 1999, on the small-scale residential sector. The company later expanded its operations to all three-construction sectors: residential, office and industrial buildings. Among the most important projects the company was involved in are the former headquarters of DŸfa, an A-type building, or Pallazo Italia, the headquarters of the UTI group. Industrial constructions and buildings account for 80% of turnover, with the rest being covered by the civil constructions segment. Among the major projects currently run by the company are the completion of a gas plant for the Italian group Siad and the construction of a plant producing prefabs for reinforced concrete, belonging to the Italian company Magnetti near Bucharest.
