Meal tickets - 15m euro profit for Accor

05.03.2003, 00:00 12

Accor Ticket Service, one of the meal ticket issuers in Romania, estimates to make 15 million euro in profit this year, the same as last year, general manager Emmanuel Malan told Ziarul Financiar. "The profit will be entirely reinvested in Romania and be directed to the development of a hotel chain mainly," Malan added. Ticket Service is the Romanian branch of the Accor multinational company, which holds one of the largest hotel chains in the world that includes brands like Sofitel, Novotel, Ibis or Mercure. Accor is already operating on the Bucharest hotel market through Sofitel and Ibis Hotels. Cristina Prelipceanu, Ticket Service PR manager says the meal ticket market in 2003 will be less spectacular than in 2002, because the growth in the number of meal ticket users will not be as high as it was last year. The number of employees eligible for meal tickets is set by the state budget law every year. At the end of 2002 there were 300,000 more meal ticket users than early in the year, while 2003 will see only 150,000 new users.
