Nastase loves Brazilian aircraft

04.11.2003, 00:00 10

The domestic air transportation services could rebound if the aircraft currently used were replaced with small Brazil-made planes bought in leasing, PM Adrian Nastase said after his meeting with Brazil's Vice-President Jose Alencar Gomes da Silva at the end of last week. "Brazil is making a very interesting, low-capacity aircraft at the moment, which might turn out very useful for domestic and regional flights. If we managed to buy a number of such planes in leasing, we might rejuvenate the domestic air traffic, which would provide a minimal fast transport facility, especially where business people are concerned," the Premier said. "Our planes are just too big and not profitable. The point is all the planes we've got are sort of 100-seaters. We need 40-seaters, we should use something like those planes driven by a screw propeller, yet newer and employing jet propulsion, for the domestic flights," he added. ZF
