NATO ups costs

02.10.2003, 00:00 10

The four major players in the Romanian aerospace industry, Romaero Bucharest, Aerostar Bacau, IAR Brasov and IAR Craiova will be faced with a substantial cost increase in order to meet the actual NATO accession standards. This was one of the conclusions of the "Advanced technology in the Romanian aviation industry" conference, which brought together managers and engineers in this industry on Monday. "The costs will go up because our services will have to become perfectly compatible with those of the major international groups. Technological and professional training investments will be required," Adrian Zainescu, Romaero Bucharest design manager said. Industry representatives specified the Romanian aerospace companies would be truly competent worldwide only when landing major contracts to sell aircraft made in Romania abroad. ZF
