New Romenergo owners are contemplating 50m-euro energy project

Romanian-British investor group Nauru Holdings, which has recently taken over 73% of Romenergo, which operates in various energy sectors, such as equipment supply and energy generation and supply, says the next step towards developing the company is expanding its energy generation portfolio. With that in mind, the new shareholders are now conducting a feasibility study for a prospective 40-50-MW gas-powered plant, following an investment that could amount to around 40-50 million euros. The group is in talks with several developers of wind power projects. The transaction whereby Nauru Holdings took over control of Romenergo was sealed last month, and amounted to around 20 million euros. "We are looking at several energy generation projects, some of which are powered by renewable energy sources, and others by conventional sources, (...)" said Dragos Bilteanu, the new general manager of Romenergo, and one of the investors that established Nauru Holdings.
