American-held Office Depot, a provider of office products and services, will transfer its financial operations from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Italy to the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca, and hire an additional 173 people. Office Depot, which last year in November, opened a financial services centre in Cluj, currently employs 227 staff. The American group moved last month to a new location, in Iulius Business Center, with the local team to be complete by the end of 2008, and number 400 people. Office Depot is currently looking for a person to take charge of the Romanian office, preferably a Romanian manager with experience in the field. According to the management of Office Depot, the company's financial operations from all offices in Europe will be transferred to Cluj by the end of this year. "So far, we have transferred financial operations from the UK and France, with financial and client relations operations from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Italy to be moved in the coming few months (...)," stated Mattijs Backx, chief financial officer of Office Depot and manager of the Romanian operations.
