Pambac Bacau, one of the major players on the milling and bakery market, has launched a new brand of flour with the aim of doubling its market share to 6%. "For the launch and promotion of the new Grania brand Pambac has invested one million euros. In the second half of the year we will also launch a new pasta brand," said Alin Madalin Giurgea, general manager of Pambac. Last year the company completed a 7.4m-euro investment in increasing the production and storage capacity of its mill, boosting the grinding capacity to 800 tonnes of wheat per day. According to the company''s own estimates, Pambac had a market share of around 30% on the pasta market in 2004. Pambac is one of the more active players on the market, having recently hired Roland Berger Strategy Consultants to help develop its sales, marketing and distribution departments. Pambac last year reported a turnover of 35 million euros, over 50% higher year-on-year. Projections for this year indicate turnover will exceed 37 million euros (1,420 billion ROL) thanks to increased market share on the wheat flour and corn flour segments and a stronger position in pasta and bakery industry.
