Average gross salary will reach 363 euros in 2007, a 12.4% increase against the level witnessed this year, said state minister Bogdan Pascu in a discussion with members of a delegation from the International Monetary Fund, who were in Bucharest for consultations. "The average gross salary forecast for 2007 for the economy as a whole will reach 1.270 RON, a 12.4% increase against 2006, and the average net salary forecast will reach 948 RON (270 euros), an 11.8% increase against last year," specified Pascu. The salary will increase by 6.5% in real terms in 2007, as other factors such as an increase in the average net income forecast, as well as a drop in the tax quota and the rate of inflation will have to be taken into account. Pascu also said that the rate of unemployment is falling, having reached 5.1% in the first half of 2006, triggered by a more efficient implementation of employment policies and by an increase in productivity.
