On the underground level of Petrom City, the biggest real estateproject finalised this year in which the company invested 130million euros in order to accommodate 2,500 employees fromBucharest and Ploieşti, a record-breaking canteen has beenopened.
Strictly in terms of number of people it can seat, Petrom'scanteen is bigger than Caru' cu Bere, perhaps the best-knownrestaurant in Romania, and in terms of revenues, it could generatearound 2 million euros per year, starting from an average menuprice of around 15 RON.
The problem is the facility is only open for company employees andfor Petrom City visitors, but the latter are set to pay more forthe menu.
"We have been on the Romanian market for 17 years and I can say theequipment of the Petrom canteen has been a first from severalpoints of view. The Petrom canteen is the biggest project on theon-premise segment (hotels, restaurants, coffee shops i.e.) thisyear," says Daniel Mocanu, general manager of DAAS Romania, one ofthe leading suppliers of equipment for hotels, restaurants,catering companies, as well as for food stores. Apart from Petrom,the company's clients include Radisson SAS and Marriott, Novotel,Ibis, Continental, Hard Rock Cafe, Pizza Hut chain and KFC.
