Peugeot will not recall cars in Romania

28.08.2007, 18:20 12

Peugeot 307 cars that are already on the road in Romania are not to be recalled to the plant, as part of a European campaign to check 240,000 units sold between 2003 and 2006, said representatives of Trust Motors, importer of the Peugeot brand on the Romanian market. According to the French producer, September will see the start of the campaign to check and prevent technical problems affecting Peugeot 307 cars manufactured within the last four years that travel the roads of Northern European countries, which have high levels of humidity, long winters and fluctuations in temperature. These conditions could, according to Peugeot, jeopardize ABS and ESP systems, if they are insufficiently sealed. From 2005 to 2006, the company conducted a similar programme and recalled 18,500 Peugeot 307 models from the Danish market, following malfunctions noticed with the ESP and ABS systems, which could have caused fires to break out.
