Poliflex derives 40m euros from polyurethane foam

Poliflex, a domestic producer of flexible polyurethane foam, forecasts turnover worth 40 million euros this year, up approximately 15% on 2006. In terms of total sales, the Sibiu-based company posted more than 35 million euros, due to the significant development of industries that use flexible polyurethane foams in their manufacturing processes. "Whereas at the beginning of 2007 we targeted annual sales worth over 26 million euros, by the end of financial year 2006-2007 we derived higher than expected turnover. It is quite difficult to anticipate a sales trend, considering that the factors that influence this aspect continue to be the unstable exchange rate and the increase in the price of raw material," Dragos Cotarcea, general manager of Poliflex told ZF Transilvania. Poliflex officials say that the polyurethane foam market is steadily expanding each year. The main growth driver is the upholstered furniture and mattresses industry. The company was the leader of the flexible polyurethane foam market in Romania last year and together with three other players accounted for 95%, with the remaining 5% divided between small domestic producers.
