Sibiu-based Poliflex, a local producer of flexible polyurethane foam, estimates an approximately 26 million-euro turnover this year, which represents a 7% increase against 2006, when the company saw an over 24 million-euro turnover. "We intend to become the biggest polyurethane producer in Eastern Europe in the next three years, and to maintain our position on the Romanian market in the field of flexible polyurethane foam. Our field of activity is still under development, however, the market is more sophisticated than those in neighbouring countries thanks to the foreign investments in the area of upholstered furniture and mattresses," Andreea Roseti, Poliflexes head of marketing and foreign sales. Export accounts for a 20 to 40% share in Poliflexes total sales. Last year, the company invested over 1.5 million euros in acquiring a piece of foaming equipment, with investment plans for this year targeting the expansion of the raw material warehouse, the acquisition of new equipment and the modernisation of existing buildings.
