25.01.2005, 00:00 13

Supreme Group, the maker of the Primola and Novatini chocolates, posted a 36 million-dollar (30 million-euro) turnover last year, up 10% on 2003, according to company representatives. Supreme's sales on the chocolate market rose by more than 110% in volume last year, according to corporate data. "The market share we had on the chocolate tablet market at the end of December of last year was around 25%," said Cristian Stancu, the marketing manager for Supreme Group. He gave no details as to how much sales had increased in value, however. The Romanian chocolate market, which is estimated at 120 million euros, is comprised of tablets (about 70% of the total), bars (20%) and pralines (10%). Apart from chocolate production Supreme Group is also involved in distribution, sells coffee and has a chain of cafes. "The increase in the group's turnover is largely due to the growth on the chocolate market but also benefited from the development strategy, market growth and the broadening of our portfolio," added Stancu.
