Oradea-based Proges, specialising in distribution of home improvement materials, has so far hired 850 staff, with their number to top 1,000 by the end of this year. "The number of employees currently exceeds 850, and we plan to reach over 1,000 people by the end of the year," said Anamaria Anton-Bako, marketing manager of Proges. The distributor of home improvement materials is seeking to expand its position on the market by expanding the network by around 20 stores. The overall investment in the new stores will exceed 5 million euros. "They are part of a development plan which will extend over a 3-year period, aimed at medium and small towns in Romania," according to company representatives. So far, Proges has opened new stores in Caransebes, Turda, Fagaras, Barlad, Tecuci, Roman, Giurgiu and Deva. Progest posted 45 million euros in turnover in the first six months of this year, and estimates to see an over 110 million-euro turnover by the end of the year, over 37% more than last year. In 2007, the company had a 37% share of the Romanian flooring market, and an around 80 million-euro turnover.
