Protruck's budget - built around a 40% decline

08.03.2009, 15:53 11

Protruck, one of the leading truck dealers on the Romanian market, estimates this year's sales will be down by almost 40%, to 60 million euros, with the volume of the entire market to see a decline by a similar percentage point. In 2008, the company posted turnover worth 97.6 million euros, with the bulk, 75%, being derived from deliveries of Iveco commercial utility vehicles, which declined 3.5%, to 1,287 units, due to the diminished demand in the last quarter of the year. "The construction and transport sectors saw increases in the first nine months of 2008, which also showed in our activity. Starting in October, however, these sectors were visibly hurt by the international economic crisis, especially amid extremely restrictive terms for accessing funding," said Gabriela Grigori, marketing manager of Protruck. The company anticipates the sales decline in the last three months of 2008 will continue into 2009, a trend confirmed by data reported to the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association in January. In the first month of the year, the automotive market was down 64%, with local sales of commercial utility vehicles down 74.5% against January last year.
