10.09.2003, 00:00 9

Rulmentul Brasov, the largest Romanian producer of ball bearings, in the first half this year confirmed the downward trend of its financial results, which had become manifest as early as 2001. After the first six months of this year, Rulmentul registered losses of 30 billion ROL, against profit worth 13 billion ROL in the same period of last year. Though the company's sales dropped 8% in nominal terms as compared to the corresponding period of last year, expenditures related to the company's core activities saw a slight increase. The company's H1 turnover stood at 562 billion ROL, against 612 billion ROL in the similar period of last year, while expenses climbed from 677 billion ROL to 682 billion ROL. Thus, Rulmentul registered 24 billion ROL core business-related losses, as compared to profit of 22 billion ROL at the end of last year's first half. Expenses related to interests and to the foreign currency exchange rate gaps amounted to more than six billion ROL in the first half of this year, the same as last year. ZF
