Sales of Baneasa Shopping City- 70% of forecast

15.12.2008, 20:08 16

The sales of the retailers in Baneasa Shopping City this year (April-December) will amount to around 120 million euros, i.e. around 70% of the sum forecast by the mall's managers at the time of the opening - 150-200 million euros, says Ali Ergun Ergen, CEO of Baneasa Developments, in charge of retail for the project in Northern Bucharest, controlled by businessman Gabriel Popoviciu. However, in terms of number of visitors, the managers' estimates regarding the largest shopping centre in Bucharest have been more precise, with the actual figure accounting for 90-95% of the 8 million visitors forecast. One of the weak points of the project is that the entertainment area, which could attract and keep people for longer within the shopping centre, will be built at a later date. "The entertainment area is an integral part of the concept, because one has to offer people more than just shopping opportunities, things like food and entertainment. We hope that the first stage of the entertainment area will be ready at the end of next year. It will include a cinema hall and a bowling alley, following a 15 million-euro investment," said Ergen.
