Sales to DIY chains drive Den Braven business up 40%

Den Braven Romania, local subsidiary of Dutch group Den Braven,recorded a 40% rise in turnover in the first half of this year, to16.3 million euros, thanks to a doubling of its exports and ofsales to DIY stores.

Because of the major decline in investments in big residential,industrial, and commercial projects, renovation works savedconsumption of construction materials in the first half of theyear.

80% of the company's sales on the Romanian market targetedrenovation works, which resulted in a 25% rise in sales ofpolyurethane foam, Den Braven Romania's main product.

Excluding the 6.9 million-euro exports, the company's sales onthe Romanian market went up 7% in the first half of the yearagainst the similar period of 2009, to 7.5 million euros.
