Sedesa and Euro Construct International win National Theatre contract

Spanish companySedesa, which is currently working on restoring Bucharest's oldtown and Euro Construct International, the company held by FlorianCodin and Elisabeta Manea, have been awarded the contract for therestoration of the Bucharest National Theatre (TNB), one of thebiggest construction tenders of this year, market sources say. TheNational Theatre restoration project is paid for by the Governmentand by the Council of Europe Development Bank, following anagreement signed in 2007.

The value of thecontract had been initially put at some 51 million euros, VAT notincluded, but after the electronic tender held on the 11th of May,the value fell to almost 40 million euros, the quoted sources said.Contracted by Ziarul Financiar for comment, the representatives ofthe Culture Ministry said they would announce the winner over thenext few days, once the tender process checks had been completed.

There were 10 bids submitted in February, with only three ofthem selected by the Culture Ministry for the final tender -Aedificia Carpati (owned by Petre Badea) -Romtest Electronic,Sedesa Obras y Servicios - Euro Construct International and Dafora(controlled by Gheorghe Calburean) - UTI Instal (controlled byTiberiu Urdareanu) consortia.
