SNR thrives on deregulation

01.02.2005, 00:00 8

Total revenues for Societatea Nationala de Radiocomunicatii (SNR) - the National Radio-communications Company - have increased by some 44% to 67.3 million euros, following an increase in the number of users and revenues derived from the services provided to non-traditional clients. "Half of SNR's revenues come from broadcasting public television and radio programmes, and the rest comes from the nearly 600 clients operating in various sectors," said the SNR chairman, Gabriel Grecu. "The deregulation of the telecommunications market has resulted in a significant increase and even a doubling in some cases of our company's revenues from telephony, Internet access, data transmissions and VPN services." The SNR official added that, according to the preliminary data, the company's net profits had risen more than 15 times compared with 2003, to 14 million euros. ZF
