Sorin Stoica, founder of mobile phones and accessories distribution group Dasimpex, which was sold last year to the Spanish investment fund GED, has resigned from his position as general manager and intends to move on to other areas of business, the company announced on Sunday, without specifying any reasons for the resignation. According to sources close to Dasimpex, Stoica has set up a new company, Oregano, which will be involved in business consulting and is to be based in Piatra Neamt. Midway through last year, the GED investment fund acquired the Dasimpex, Lexor, Puls GSM and GSM Land networks through the GED Eastern Fund II, in total holding over 100 stores. The investment fund holds the majority capital of the new group, through a 4.5 million-euro investment, by means of a capital inflow and of share purchasing. Last year the company estimated that the turnover of the four mobile phone distribution networks it controls in Romania would increase by 15-20% a year, from the 24 million euros it derived in 2005.
