29.08.2007, 19:10 6

Air operator Swiss International Airlines, one of the leading operators on the Romanian market, witnessed a 10% increase in the number of passengers for flights to and from Romania in the first half of the year. The company operates 14 flights per week on the Bucharest-Zurich route, and registered an average occupancy rate of 88% in the first half of the year, up 5% on 2006. "The integration of SWISS within the Star Alliance group and its partnership with Lufthansa brought multiple flight options, which contributed to the growth," said Andreea Brezean, sales manager of SWISS International Airlines for Romania and Moldova. Star Alliance also includes air operators such as Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Austrian Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Spanair and TAP Portugal. The company's revenues in Romania increased in proportion to the number of passengers, and exceeded the initial 5% estimates made by company representatives.
