National company TAROM, whose business will reach some 290m euros (450m dollars) is making more than 10m euros from charter flights a year, and has contracts signed with both travel agencies and companies. "The share of charter flights in the turnover stood at more than 4% last year, with an increase expected for this year," said Madalin Tudor, spokesman of the company. TAROM ended last year with a 255m-euro (350m-dollar) turnover. According to the data provided by the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT), TAROM operates charter flights to destinations like Rhodes, Corfu, Crete, Halkidiki, Antalya, Izmir, Ibiza, for travel agencies such as Promt Service Travel, Tez Tour Romania and Paralela 45. The share of charter flights in TAROM's business is close to Carpatair's, about 5%. Carpatair is one of the top three operators on the domestic market, and derived 81.3m euros in business last year. Unlike regular flights, charter flights are a safe profit stream for airlines, as the price is set per flight.
