Dej-based Romanian-Italian joint venture Tiger Somes, a producer of packaging paper, reported 20% higher sales for the first ten months of this year, compared with the corresponding period of last year, up to 6 million euros. The company''s management estimates turnover for the entire year will reach 8.5 million euros, up 25% on 2004. "The Romanian market is witnessing increasingly higher demand for packaging products, generated by the higher production capacities and by the solid investments in the food sector. These investments trigger double quantities of packaging products on the Romanian market and the need for higher quality packaging," explained Mircea Itu, the executive manager of Tiger Somes. After the company last year completed an investment worth 2 million euros in a new production unit, this year investments have come to 500,000 euros. The money was aimed at the modernisation of production facilities. The company will take its investment plans further next year, as the management decided to earmark about one million euros to boost production capacities, introduce new products and cut down technological losses.
