TRW Automotive Safety Systems, a subsidiary of the American automotive component group TRW Automotive, will this year begin producing wheels and air bags for leading automotive manufacturers. Air-bag production will start this month, and the investment needed for this project stands at some 1.2 million euros. Company officials say their main client on this segment is going to be the French carmaker Renault. Wheel production will start in April, for clients such as Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes. "The new project is part of the development strategy for the Romanian production centre. The clients we will be working with are already included in TRW''s portfolio. This means that some of our similar activities performed in other facilities in Europe will simply be redistributed," Giuseppe Pappalardo, chief executive of TRW Automotive Safety Systems in Timisoara told ZF TRANSILVANIA.
