UK and Russia, the new targets of Cristina Bâtlan, Musette founder

Cristina Bâtlan, the founder of Musette, plans to expand thisyear on the Russian and British markets, after the opening of thefirst store in New York last year whetted her appetite forexpansion and franchises. She has already managed to take Musetteand Christeln B. shoes to Luxembourg, Israel and Hungary.

Initially opened in a franchise system, the 50 square metreshop in New York, which took a 250,000-euro investment, is now halfowned by the parent company.

"We have plans for the US market that we want to put to thetest," Cristina Bâtlan says.

After New York, Musette reached Luxembourg, then Hungary, inBudapest, with two stores, and then Israel. All the four storeswere opened in a franchise system and were added to the two ownstores of Bulgaria and another one in Israel. The overall numberthis year: eight stores abroad and 12 domestically.

The scales could be balanced in the near future, as the Romaniannetwork is "constant and mature, with the expansion process put onstandby", according to Bâtlan, and abroad plans for new stores arecrystallising.

After several store closures in Romania and Moldova in 2008 and2009, at the end of 2010 all Musette's stores were profitable, thefounder explains.
