The international fast courier service company Trans Courier Service, an UPS authorised agent, achieved turnover growth of 30.5% in the first half of 2005, to a total of 2.11 million euros, from 1.61 million euros in the same time last year. Trans Courier Service expects full-year turnover to be of 4.7 million euros, 35% higher than the 3.54 million euros in 2004. "Due to the results achieved locally, UPS Romania has earned the best operational performance title in the region for three years in a row," said Iulia Gabriela Nartea, Trans Courier Services executive manager. Trans Global Service provides fast international courier services in Romania. "We target companies involved in foreign trade, such as those from the light, electronics, electrical, glass industry, as well as from the banking, legal services and consultancy sectors. Our clients also include individuals, who, however, make more money than the average person," Nartea added. UPS has its own 90-vehicle fleet, along with 2 charter planes and 100 employees. It has 2,500 customers in Romania and 7.9 million worldwide. The courier service market in Romania has been on the rise in the last few years. UPS, one of the largest international courier service companies, began operations in Romania in 1990. The development of the courier market led to the establishment of Trans Courier Service in 2000, which became an authorised UPS agent in Romania. ZF
