Ursus Breweries, part of the domestic arm of SABMiller group, which currently ranks second on the domestic beer market, has strengthened its management team by appointing members from the international management team of SABMiller.
As a result, Wojciech Bauman is the new marketing vice-president of the company and replaces Piotr Jurjewich. Wojciech has a solid track record with SABMiller and joined the team of Kompania Piwowarska in Poland in 1999, where he filled marketing and sales positions including the position of marketing vice-president, sales and distribution vice-president and export manager.
Management changes also took place within the financial department, with Indrin Pillay, a member of SABMiller?s team since 1995, replacing Andrei Haret as vice-president of the financial department.
Julian Patton was appointed to the position of vice-president in charge of the technical department of Ursus Breweries. Patton worked with several British companies as a packaging, brewery, engineering and sales manager before joining the Diageo as a global expert in packaging and then production manager for export packaging operations.
He subsequently worked for the Dale Farm Dairy Company and advanced from the position of plant manager to the position of technical manager before working for SABMiller as a manager in charge of production development within Plzensky Prazdroj.
The board of directors at Ursus Breweries? currently has 6 members, 4 of whom are foreigners.
Ursus Breweries posted 33% higher sales on the domestic market in the third quarter of the current financial year (October-December 2006), an almost three times faster growth rate than the one reported in the first six months of the financial year.
During the April-September 2006 period, Ursus sales advanced by a mere 13% due to production limitations. Considering the growth rate Ursus reported in the first nine months of the fiscal year estimated sales could soar by 20% in this fiscal year.
Last year Ursus completed total investments exceeding 30 million euros in expanding its production capacities in the plant at Buz`u. However, the company?s representatives decided to continue the expansion process through a new investment worth around 20 million euros.
In the wake of these investments, the company?s production will reach about 4.5 million hectolitres.
