Vinia Iasi to take out 7.5m euros in credits

According to the company''s spending and revenue budget, winemaker Vinia Iasi will take out credits worth 7.5 million euros (27 million RON) this year to be used for production, to support export, as well as for new vineyards. Vinia posted a turnover worth 6.2 million euros (22.6 million RON) last year, a 19% drop against 2004. The company''s net profit dropped from 275,000 euros (1.13 million RON) in 2004 to a mere 83,000 euros (0.31 million RON) last year. Company officials did not comment on the results by the time this issue was ready for print. The company will allocate over 750,000 euros to modernise the Zorleni vineyard and to purchase new grapevine-cultivated areas, according to the report published by the company in the Official Gazette. Vinia is one of the biggest wine exporters in Romania, with Germany, the Czech Republic and Sweden being its main export destinations. The company, which mainly focuses on selling wine in bulk, expanded to upper segments of the market in 2004. Another big wine exporter on the local market, Cramele Recas (Recas wine cellars) in Banat announced this year it would give up exporting wine in bulk to focus only on bottled wine. ZF
