Net sales of Czech pharmaceutical producer Zentiva in Romania fell 44.1% in the first quarter, to 340.7 million Czech korunas (13.6 million euros), amid a shift in its development strategy on the Romanian market and a depreciation of the RON against the Czech currency. In its sales report published in April, Zentiva estimated a 40% sales decline on the Romanian market. "In Romania, Zentiva continued to consolidate its position on the market, by balancing out the previous strategy, based on a high growth rate, via a stronger focus on generating cash flow. This initiative started in the third quarter of 2007, with a view to reducing the company's exposure to provisions set up for risky debts," reads the financial report of the Czech company. In RON, Romanian sales fell 31.3% in the above-mentioned period.
