B.Braun's plans after acquiring Timisoara intravenous infusion fluid plant

Arrived in Bucharest to announce 6m-euro investments in 2010 and2011, as well as the acquisition of Helvetica Profarm intravenousinfusion fluid plant, Christian Braun, CEO of B. Braun Central& Eastern Europe, and shareholder in the German pharmaceuticaland medical device giant with annual turnover of around 4bn euros,lays out development plans for the following period. He starts bysaying the Romanian market is "highly promising" and then adds thatpart of Timisoara production will go abroad. The 6m-euroinvestments will be aimed at boosting production capacity by 7million units, from 12 million at present. In late 2010, HelveticaProfarm will be renamed as B. Braun Pharmaceutics SA, after thename of old products is changed. Without the plant, B. Braungenerated 52m RON turnover and for 2010 targets 21% growth. "As aresult of the financial crisis, with an impact in Romania as well,we had weaker turnover growth last year, of 1.5%, which is notsatisfying. This year we want to revert to stronger growth andreach 63m RON," said Martin Wenderoth, executive manager with B.Braun Medical SRL.
