Germany's Multivac takes over Persys Engineering's operations

16.06.2008, 18:06 28

German-based Multivac, one of the largest producers of thermoforming machines worldwide, with turnover worth 500 million euros, will enter the Romanian market directly, after taking over the infrastructure of its former distributor, Persys Engineering. The deal is estimated to be worth around 1-1.5 million euros, with the German group planning to invest around 4 million euros next year in building new headquarters and a new production facility in Bucharest. "We will invest several million euros in order to get Multivac Romania going, because we need space to build new headquarters (around 3,000 square metres), and Bucharest is an expensive city," said Hans-Joachim Boekstegers, Managing Director of Multivac. Persys Engineering has been present on the local market for 15 years, and is the largest distributor of thermoforming machines on the local market. The company's two shareholders are Romanian born Dumitru Bordea and Adrian Dobre, with the latter being the company's general manager and majority shareholder. On a market estimated at 10 million euros, Persys Engineering posted turnover worth 6 million euros last year, and forecasts an at least 30% growth rate for this year.
