GFS Services eyes 10% of meal tickets market

24.06.2005, 19:05 10

GFS Services, the new player on the meal tickets market, plans to grab a 10% market share by yearend, as it held 0.3% of the market when it was deregulated, and had reached 3.3% in May.

a??The company operated on a non-deregulated market in its first year, and our single quota, in line with the law, was of 5,000 users for the fourth quarter, below our capacities,a?? says Loredana Manolache, PR manager with the company.

GFS Services is the meal ticket unit of GFS group, controlled by businessman Razvan Petrovici, who owns the Universa??All chain of stores.

Forecasting the meal ticket market would grow, GFS group last year decided to enter this business, investing over 1m euros in the new unit, which currently has 60 employees.

This year, GFS Services expects turnover to go to 50bn ROL (1.3m euros), 50 times higher as compared to 2004, and profit worth at least 27bn ROL (0.7m euros), considering that the total issued volume is worth 36 million euros.

a??The meal ticket market deregulation has created a legal framework for real competition between existent companies. The a??monopolya?? of companies that had arrived first on the market has been cancelled. We now have access to part of the customers included in their quota and who, though not happy with the services, could not change the issuer before, because of these limitations imposed by the quota system,a?? Manolache says.

At present, the company has over 50,000 users and 600 companies buying Ticket Plus, the brand owned by GFS Services. a??By the end of this year, we will reach 150,000 users working for companies with 1 to 4,000 employees,a?? says Manolache.

She feels the real market of meal tickets is about 80% covered.

a??Certain legislative changes regarding public institutionsa?? budgets for meal tickets would trigger market growth.a??

Estimated at over 500m euros, the meal ticket market includes 9 players: Sodexho Pass, Accor Services, Hungastro, Bon Appetit, Cheque Dejeuner, Blu Tickets, Pro Serv, Cuget Liber and GFS Services. dana.ciriperu@zf.ro
