The Stock Exchange started the year with rises for most sharesin its first day. The BET index of the ten leading listed companiesgained 1.86% and SIFs (financial investment companies) climbed1.75%. Since 1998, it has been traditional that every time the BETrose in the first day of the year, it also ended the year on therise. "The Stock Exchange started the year under good auspices. Thelisting of the Fund is an event, which will attract interest, andwhich I think is likely to drive this upward trend at least untilMarch," believes Mihai Chi[u, broker at IFB Finwest. Analysts thisyear rely on shares, expecting a rise of around 17% of the BETindex and of 30% for SIFs (financial investment companies).
