58% increase for Lafarge Agregate Betoane

01.09.2006, 20:08 10

Construction material producer Lafarge Agregate Betoane (Lafarge Aggregates and Concrete), owned by French group Lafarge, has cut its losses in the first six months of the year by 50% to 460,000 euros (1.63 million RON), compared
with the level seen in the similar period of 2005, of 920,000 euros (3.4 million RON). Moreover, the company's turnover went up 58% in the first half of the year, to 8.7 million euros (31.8 million RON). "The loss has to do with the current overall situation of the market, as it did last year, and the company management estimates the current state of affairs will be remedied by the end of the year," say company representatives. In April this year, company shareholders decided to grant dividends worth a total 1.7 million euros (6.2 million RON). The company has not disbursed dividends from profits since its establishment in 1998. It used the profits of 2004 and 2003 to offset 2002's losses, after not having distributed dividends before that, either.
