Adobe buys Romanian company Interakt

07.09.2006, 19:24 28

American software company Adobe Systems Inc has acquired Romanian software producer Interakt for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition of the Romanian company is the same as opening a new research and development centre in Eastern Europe. In February 2005, when a delegation of the American company came to Romania for negotiations, sources close to the talks said that this research centre would be involved in distribution, in porting some Adobe software products to mobile phones and in developing sites with Web 2.0 technology. It was also then that they said the company could hire hundreds of programmers. Interakt, founded in 2000, produces software for web development and electronic commerce and is currently employing 30 people. Company managers have forecast that turnover for this year will stand at 1.8 million dollars (some 1.4 million euros). In 2005, turnover stood at one million dollars (some 800,000 euros).
